Job Description
A New Constellation connects artists with older adults to co-create pieces of art that will be shared online and at The Old Courts. We will also be working with artists and participants in Oxford. This project runs alongside the development of Ad Infinitum’s new production exploring care for older people, https://ad-infinitum.org/if-you-fall – If You Fall, which premieres in Bristol in April 2023 followed by a UK tour including The North Wall, Oxford (19-20 April) and The Old Courts (27-28 April).
We are inviting applications from artists who are based in, work in or have a connection to Wigan and Leigh to work with three – four participants across March and early April. Through weekly phone or online calls, the artist and participants will have conversations spread across four weeks and co-create a piece of art, led by the older adult’s ideas and interests.
At the end of the project we will share the art created in Oxford and Wigan on our online platforms and at the venue local to the participants.
This is the development of a project that Ad Infinitum ran in 2020 with four artists and thirteen participants in Bristol and Newbury. We created an online gallery sharing the work that was created which can be https://ad-infinitum.org/a-new-constellation – viewed here.
FEE STRUCTURE
The engagement is for 9 working days across March and April. We will pay a daily rate of £175 (total fee £1,575). The fee is exclusive of any expenses associated with the activity. Artists will be contracted and paid as freelancers and therefore responsible for all associated taxes due to HMRC. We will also be able to cover reasonable creative expenses for the project, to be agreed in advance.
