CFT’s Script Lab will take participants through a workshopping process in which your short play is honed, refined and finally performed in a script-in-hand reading by two professional actors.
Course Tutor Lucy Flannery will lead you through a series of exercises to sharpen your playwriting skills. Participants will look at structure, dialogue, sub-text, tension and different ways to connect with an audience.

Lucy Flannery is a former RLF Fellow at the University of Chichester. She writes for radio and film in addition to theatre and her sitcom Rent won the Writers’ Guild Award for Best Radio Comedy. Her new short play, Risk was recently part of a showcase at The Spring, Havant, and her play Poisoned Beds, co-written with Greg Mosse, returns for a south coast/ south west tour in the summer and autumn of 2019.
How to Apply:
The course is limited to only twelve participants. To apply for a place on the course, please submit one 10-Minute scene via e-mail to leap@cft.org.uk by 5pm on Friday 5 April. The scene can either be stand-alone, or an extract from a longer piece, but may have no more than 2 speaking characters. Bursary places are available, please indicate at time of application if you would like further information.
