Chippy Lane Productions – Writing Apprentice Callout (paid)

Writing Apprentice Callout

Are you based in or near Cardiff? Are you a musical theatre lover? Have you always wanted to write a musical, or curious about the process of writing a musical? Chippy Lane Productions Ltd. are offering an opportunity for an individual to spend three days as a Writing Apprentice on the development of new musical ‘Toy Mic Trev’, written by BAFTA-winning writer Alan Harris and composed by Hannah Noone.

“Plastic-microphone-busking legend Trevor Rees was a profound part of the cultural fabric of Cardiff; until he went missing. This production tells the story of a journalist’s mission to find him, as she uncovers a local story of love, loss and the wonder in the everyday – a million miles from the cynicism of the newsroom.”

We are undertaking five days of Arts Council Wales funded R&D (Research and Development) to further develop the show between 28 October and 4 November 2021, at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. The Writing Apprentice will spend 3 days shadowing the Creative Team during the R&D.

This role is for an early career writer who has never had anything professionally produced, published nor is represented by a literary agent.

We are offering a fee of £100 per day, £300 in total.

We are actively interested in hearing from people we haven’t met or engaged with before as a company. We are not expecting applicants to have had a background in theatre producing but we are interested in hearing from individuals who are interested and passionate about making new musical theatre. Please be aware that we cannot cover travel or accommodation, and so you will need to be based within commuting distance of Wales Millenium Centre in Cardiff Bay.
