Curatorial Call-Out 2019: John Thaw Initiative 2019 at The Actors Centre

Curatorial Call-Out 2019: John Thaw Initiative 2019 at The Actors Centre

Are you a writer interested in performing your own work? Or perhaps you are an actor looking for an opportunity to mount your own show? The Actors Centre is currently seeking submissions of work-in-progress pieces that explore the theme of motherhood as part of the fourth and final edition of the 2019 John Thaw Initiative.

The John Thaw Initiative offers a platform for artists to take creative risks and achieve vital feedback with work still in development, without any financial pressure. Previous seasons have included the Mental Health Season where each show was followed by a post-show Q&A; the Graduate Season, featuring work by graduating drama students, the Blacktress UK Season, offering opportunities exclusively for women of the African diaspora; Working Class Stories in association with Actor Awareness; and the Queer Season, curated by ThisIsOtherland.

The next season of the John Thaw Initiative, which will run from October – December 2019, will be entitled Motherhood(s) and The Actors Centre is seeking submissions of work-in-progress pieces that break down solidified preconceptions and engage with the multiplicities and subjectivities of contemporary motherhood.

Deadline for submissions: 10am on Friday 23rd August.

They will respond to all applicants by Friday 6th September at the latest.
