Last year, David Higham Associates books department organised an Open Day at their offices to open out the way in which they connect with new writers. They offered a group of fiction writers from under-represented backgrounds the opportunity to spend a day with them, meeting experts from the publishing industry and receiving tailored feedback on their work.
Following the event’s success, the Film, TV & Theatre department are extending the same opportunity to script-writers. The inaugural Scripts Open Day will take place on Thursday 19th September 2019 at their offices in Soho and will focus exclusively on script-writing for film, TV and stage.
The day will feature talks and Q&As with agents and development professionals, a one-to-one session with one of their Film, TV & Theatre agents, and the opportunity to meet and network with like-minded writers. There will be 8 available places and a bursary for travel expenses will be available for each writer chosen.
Who can apply: they are inviting submissions for film, tv and theatre scripts of any genre based on original ideas. They will not at this time be considering radio scripts, adaptations or submissions from writing teams. Scripts must be full-length (a minimum of 30 pages long), written by one writer only and cannot currently be in development with a film/TV production company.
