Want to create an original script for the stage and have actors bring it to life? This course is for you. For writers of all levels. No upper age limit.
Classes are held in the evenings from January to July with a month’s break in April.
Course breakdown:
BLOCK 1: Stage Writing Techniques in Theory and Practice
First term: January 15th to April 5th – 6:30pm to 8:30pm Tuesday and Friday evenings
Tuesday sessions will focus on the craft of theatre writing: Structure, Narrative, Dramatic Action, Dialogue, Character, Stage Directions and Form.
Friday sessions will involve workshopping and developing your own work.
With a 4 week break over Easter (last class on 5th April and back to class the 7th May)
BLOCK 2: Playwriting in Collaboration with Actors
Second term: May 7th to July 26th – 6:30pm to 8:30pm Tuesday and Friday evenings:
Acting Students from Drama Studio London will read and perform your work in class. It will be an exclusive opportunity to hear your words spoken by actors and give you a unique insight into the requirements of dramatic writing.
Upon completion of the two terms, writers will be given five weeks to develop the script, after which they will have a one hour, one-on-one feedback tutorial with Simon in the first week of September 2019.
