Etch holds a monthly theatre night held at one of South London’s most thriving new bars and arts venues, The Peckham Pelican. Etch aims to discover, nurture and support new writing whilst encouraging collaboration amongst emerging artists. We hope to provide a base and platform for development, collaboration and discussion whilst creating a fluid community of artists in need of an outlet. Etch will be sharing work at grass roots level, hoping to include curious audiences in the process of creating theatre.
Their launch night took place on the 11th August where five extracts of new writing were shown from five up and coming playwrights, directed and performed by hand picked directors and actors who have worked in such places as The Royal Court, The National Theatre, The Citizens theatre and The Apollo. The night was a huge success with a turnout of over 150 including guests from The Royal Court literary department.
How to apply: they are currently collecting submissions for their next scratch night on September 15th. If you are interested in being involved in Etch as a writer, please send 5-20 minute extracts from plays still in development to: submissions@etchtheatre.com
Please note that there is no fee for this project at the moment as all proceeds go towards the running of the event. However, Etch say that if and when they do make a profit, it will be shared amongst the team.
Deadline: 29th August 2014 at 5pm
