Free Spirit Theatre are looking for an original play for their next production in May 2019, to be performed at the Dovehouse Theatre, Solihull.
Submission guidelines:
1. The play must be your own original work and must not have been previously performed in the UK.
2. The play must be at least 1 hour in length and not exceed 1 hour 30 minutes in length.
3. The play must not require more than 10 actors (actors can double up, if there are more than 10 roles).
4. No musicals.
5. Minimal budget preferred (e.g. no flying on wires, or filling the stage with water)
6. Please indicate the 10 pages you would like them to read first, as the ‘best’ example from the script. If you do not indicate which pages, they will read the first 10 pages.
7. The play will be performed, but not published.
8. They are an amateur company. Although they have received Arts Council grants for previous productions, any payment to the author is reliant on another grant. Should they get a grant the author’s fee will not exceed £100.
9. They hope to provide feedback for every submission, but this cannot be guaranteed.
10. They may ask for a re-write/re-submission, but this does not mean your play has been selected and you are free to tell them to get lost, you’re not changing your play for anyone 😊
