Free Tawala workshops for emerging black creatives (book now for 8 April)

Are you an artist looking for ways to grow your artform? Tawala has announced a free programme of creative activity as part of Talawa MAKE.

Tawala says: “This is a call for emerging b”lack playwrights, actors, theatre makers, directors, dancers, artists and photographers across London to grow their craft with Talawa Theatre Company in association with Camden People’s Theatre.

“These workshops are an opportunity to explore experimental and contemporary theatre making techniques with some of the leading artists in the field.

“An opportunity for emerging black artists who have never worked with Talawa to meet, to be creative and grow their craft.”

The workshops are:

Sat 8 April: SOUND – Nwando Ebizie

Nwando Ebizie is an experimental performance artist, musician, producer, DJ and dancer from Nigeria who has lived, performed and played all over the world. Her work eschews boundaries, but incorporates her training in classical piano, electronic music production (British Academy of New Music), circus, aerial arts (Circomedia), physical theatre, and various forms of dance, with her interests in multi-disciplinary work and ritual performance | @nwando

Sat 6 May: THE WORLD – HighRise

HighRise are a theatre collective who seek to spark conversation and build bridges between forgotten communities, by representing the rhythm of the streets. Their style is energetic, physical, innovative, poetic and colloquial – using Hip Hop & Grime music on top of extreme play as a vehicle to tell honest stories from multicultural backgrounds | @HighRise_UK
