Gemma Arrowsmith, writer on Tracey Ullman’s Show, Spitting Image and script editor of Newsjack is running ‘The Crash Course’; a short FREE online sketch comedy writing course aimed at improving diversity in writers’ rooms. The Crash Course consists of four 90 minute workshops covering sketch structure, game, escalation, punchlines, writing for TV and radio, writing to a brief, formatting and topical sketch writing – amongst other things!
This course is aimed at under-represented groups. If you are Black, South Asian, East Asian or mixed race, if you are someone who is living with a disability, if you are LGBTQIA+, living on a low income or come from a working class or lower middle class background, this course might be for you. You should be passionate about comedy and want to write comedy as a career – but have so far faced significant barriers to entry into the industry.
To apply fill in the application form here (from 9am on Monday 5th October 2020)
