A Season-Long Workshop for Playwrights Serious About Craft
This is a unique opportunity for mid-career playwrights to deepen their work in a closed, supportive, and artist-driven space. Modeled after the renowned Playwright/Directors Workshop at The Actors Studio in New York—where development is driven by process, not production—this workshop offers playwrights the chance to refine a single play over the course of a season.
Led by Karen Cecilia, a longtime member of The Actors Studio, the group will meet regularly in private sessions. Each meeting will feature three playwrights, each presenting up to 20 minutes of their work to be read by actors, followed by 20 minutes of moderated, craft-focused feedback from fellow members. Playwrights choose which section of their larger piece to bring in each time, allowing for thoughtful, sustained development across the arc of the play.
Moderation rotates among experienced members, ensuring each session brings fresh perspective and artistic rigor. These are closed sessions—not open to the public—to preserve the integrity of the creative process.
Members will meet in person at a location in Glasgow, every first and third Tuesday of the month from September to December. This is a non-funded workshop.
If you’re looking for a space where you can bring a project to life with intention, depth, and serious peers, this workshop is for you.
Please fill out this form by 18th August. Notice of acceptance into the group will be given by 7th September.
Thank you for your submissions.
