High-Rise Avenue have extended the deadline of their call-out for a Dramaturg to support the development of a new play, HAIR POLICE.
The play is being written by Kalungi Ssebandeke and Sandra Thompson-Quartey and developed through a research and development project supported by Arts Council England.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a theatre script reader or dramaturg and a good understanding of the themes.
Duties:
- Providing script reports
- Attending feedback and rewrites meetings (virtually)
Excellent analytical and communication skills and a strong understanding of the themes of the play will be required.
High-Rise Avenue is a production company, which produces exciting new theatre shows written and directed by people of colour and adapts them for film and television. The company is committed to increasing the visibility of talented creatives and performers from Black, Asian, Middle Eastern, and culturally diverse backgrounds.
Remuneration: £150 for script reports, £80 for extract and treatment reports and £20 per hour for meetings.

Brianna has been offered a promotion at work and is due to marry the man of her dreams. Life is looking good. While attending an Afro/Caribbean natural hair exhibition, Briana starts to question her perception of beauty and how she views her type 4 hair. When Brianna makes the decision to ‘free the fro’ her promotion hangs in the balance and the ignored cracks in her relationship begin to widen.
