Ok, so this one’s not strictly a ‘writing opportunity’, but it could be useful if you’re considering producing your own work…
HighTide is giving up to 32 IdeasTap members the opportunity to attend a two-hour masterclass on how to apply for Grants for the Arts funding from the Arts Council. The session will be led by Steven Atkinson, Artistic Director of HighTide Festival Theatre, and Cassandra Mathers, Relationship Manager, Theatre for Arts Council England in the South East.
The masterclass will take place at HighTide’s offices in Farringdon, London on Wednesday 10 September from 10am to 12pm.
Steven and Cassandra will share and contrast their respective experiences with Grants for the Arts as an applicant and an assessor.
This session will be geared towards those with little or no experience of making funding applications to Arts Council England, but will also suit those who have applied before and been unsuccessful, or wish to develop their fundraising skills. Participants can be individual artists or artists representing companies from a range of live arts disciplines, including theatre, dance, music, producing, writers, directors and choreographers etc.
When applying, you should give the judges a clear sense of what work you would like to get Grants for the Arts funding for, and some articulation of how undertaking this work will develop your career and craft.
