The London Short Film Festival is helping to support Jameson First Shot for its second year in the UK. They’re on the hunt for the world’s most gifted undiscovered filmmakers to collaborate with Kevin Spacey’s Trigger Street Productions, and to direct Maggie Gyllenhaal
The brief:
How much of an actor’s coolness is defined through the filmmakers who are creating the roles for the actor? How does an actor create an aura of coolness, becoming hip amongst film fans by coating every film project with a layer of drop-dead credibility? Let’s consider Maggie Gyllenhaal, and her involvement in the Jameson First Shot short film competition. Maggie is the embodiment of cool and indefinable actors. She says“I find it exciting that [filmmakers] might see something in me that I haven’t gotten in touch with yet.”
At Jameson First Shot, filmmakers can get a chance to go to that next level with an actress as cool as she is, to make something high profile with Trigger Street, a reputable production company and filmmaking team headed up by Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti.
What to submit: Filmmakers simply have to submit a 7 page script by January 4 2016, and three winners will have an opportunity to have those scripts turned into short films and to direct Maggie in the lead role. “Your story should be around the great and/or unexpected things that can happen when you fear less and invite life in.” The winning shorts will be premiered in LA with the team in attendance.
