Missing theatre and bored of Zoom? We have just the ticket. This 5-week course will explore
the building blocks of playwriting with a 2021 twist. Delving into the pros and cons of this
brand spanking new theatrical medium, participants will get the chance to write and receive
feedback for a short play written specifically for Zoom. Run by writer and director Sam
Essame, this course is for anyone who wants to celebrate theatre’s endless adaptability and
join a new wave of theatre making.

Sam is a playwright, director, dramaturg and producer. He is an alumnus of Papatango’s
WriteWest workshop programme and the HighTide Theatre Academy. He has run online
writers’ nights throughout the pandemic and staged his horror play ‘Host’ live on Zoom ‘at’
The Space in October. He is also co-Artistic Director of Danse Macabre Productions.
