Magnetic North has received an award from Creative Scotland’s Recovery Fund which will enable them to support independent artists through a Seed Fund which will give four grants of £4,500 each.
Eligibility
- You must be a professional independent artist, group of artists, or unfunded company, based in Scotland. You can work in any art-form.
- At least one of the four grants will be awarded to an artist who is part of Magnetic North’s Artist Network (i.e. you have worked with us or taken part in an aspect of our Artist Development programme).
- At least one award will be made to a Black artist or artist of colour, and at least one to a disabled or d/Deaf artist.
- You must have a project idea that you are interested in developing.
What is the commission for?
- Starting or continuing practical development work on a new idea, working with at least one other collaborating artist.
- You must pay yourself and at least one other artist a fee, at or above standard industry rates. You can use the rest of the budget to pay other people to work with you, to pay for caring costs so that you have time to work, to buy materials, to hire rehearsal space, or whatever is most useful.
- You must complete the funded work by the end of January 2023.
- They are looking to support work which would not otherwise take place, rather than add value to a development project which is already planned and funded.
