Morecambe Fringe Short Story Competition

SHORT STORY COMPETITION
FREE ENTRY
£100 PRIZES
What story can you tell? A myth, a tragedy, a fairy tale, or a comedy?
Stories create magic and a sense of wonder in our world. Stories teach us about life, about ourselves and about others. If you are a storyteller or have a deep longing to be one, then this month’s competition should be just perfect!
Two social enterprises, Morecambe Fringe Festival and 5asideCHESS, have got together to run a short story competition as part of this year’s virtual Morecambe Fringe 2020.
Your 250 word story will be based on your journey navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. Weave your story from your hopes and fears for yourself, your loved ones, and the world through this period. You can choose either pre during or after the COVID-19 period.
The competition will be open to all and split into age group categories. Judges will shortlist five entries from each age group category. Under 20, 20-49, 50+.
You will be able to listen and read each of these stories through the Fringe social media throughout the Festival held over 11-19 July. Winners will be chosen by votes from the panel of judges and through public voting.
The winners will be announced on 19th July.
Each winning story will be commemorated in print on 100 limited edition 5asideCHESS boards with all proceeds from their sale going to the Morecambe Fringe.
Each winner will receive their own board with their story printed on it, and a cash prize of £100.
Entries should be emailed to hello@5asidechess.com by 12pm on July 13th 2020.
Deadline: 13 July 2020 at 12pm
