New Writing Platform from MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London
1 November 2015 from 4-5.30pm
Location: Central Saint Martins, London
The new MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins is delighted to announce the sixth event in their New Writing Platform series.
The sixth New Writing Platform event will be run in partnership with We Light Up The House and will be on Latin American Theatre.
The event will include an In Conversation element with dramatist Lin Coghlan [Dennis Potter Play of the Year Award, The National Theatre, BBC, CBBC], director Amy Draper [These Trees are Made of Blood, Southwark Playhouse], and María De Vecchi Gerli from UCL Institute of the Americas, and will be chaired by MA Dramatic Writing Course Leader, Jennifer Tuckett.
This will be followed by a showing of student work, inspired by The Day of the Living by Lin Coghlan, and a workshop by Lin and Amy on techniques they used to develop their play.
The event will conclude with a Q&A and opportunity to ask Lin and Amy questions about their work and practice.
The event will be from 4pm – 5.30pm on the 1st November at Central Saint Martins as part of two days on Latin American theatre and free tickets can be booked at: http://www.platform-theatre.com/
MA Dramatic Writing Course Leader Jennifer Tuckett said: “We are delighted to be working with We Light Up the House on our next New Writing Platform, our new series dedicated to exploring new ideas going on in dramatic writing in partnership with the industry, and to be taking part in the festival celebrating Latin American Theatre”.
Sarah Weatherall, producer of The Day of the Living, said: “Stories from Mexico unfold in layers of absurdity, tragedy and heroism; thank you to the MA Dramatic Writing for supporting these narratives.”
