As reported in The Stage:
Rory Mullarkey has won the 2014 Pinter Commission playwriting award, which sees a new work by the winner supported by London’s Royal Court Theatre. The prize is now in its third year and is given to any playwright, whether they be established or unpublished. Previous recipients of the prize – which used to be called the Harold Pinter Playwright’s Award – include Nick Payne and Anders Lustgarten.
Mullarkey’s credits include Cannibals, which was his first full-length play and opened at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre in 2013. The show saw him become the youngest playwright to have their work performed on the venue’s main stage. He was also the Royal Court’s writer on attachment in 2010 and has translated Russian and Ukrainian plays, including Aleksey Scherbak’s Remembrance Day and And I Don’t Care How You’re Doing Anymore by Oksana Savchenko, for the theatre in the past.
