Leading theatre publishers Nick Hern Books (NHB) have announced that their pop-up bookshop,
the Big Bargain Bookshop at the Bush, will return to the acclaimed London new-writing
venue the Bush Theatre later this month, following the popular first incarnation at the same location
in 2021.
Open on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 July from 1pm to 7.30pm, the pop-up bookshop will
offer a massive range of playscripts and books all at special, one-off prices, with hundreds
available for just £2.
The selection will include NHB-published playscripts by some of today’s most renowned writers, as
well as exciting emerging voices. There’ll also be a wide selection of inspiring, practical books – to
help theatre-makers and other creatives learn new skills, brush up on existing ones, and support their
own work and career.
Plus, 20% of the proceeds from all books sold will go to theatrical charity Arts
Emergency, to support their important work breaking down barriers and creating pathways for
under-resourced young people to access education, training and work in the creative industries.
NHB’s first pop-up bookshop was held at the Bush Theatre in November 2021, with hundreds of
visitors attending over the two days and thousands of books sold. This year’s event will run alongside
performances of the acclaimed play My Father’s Fable by Faith Omole, which is also published by NHB.
