To celebrate Nouveau Richés new residency at the CLF art Cafe Peckham, they are kicking off with their new flagship scratch night Nouveau Nights.  Nouveau Nights will focus on The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, taking the themes of this iconic album to the stage.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, debuted 20years ago! Challenging the preconceived notions of what being a black woman means, by giving an honest and realistic presentation of a black woman’s view on life, love, motherhood, spiritually and sexuality.

Songs such as “Lost Ones” (demonstrating the importance of loving, and realizing self-worth) “To Zion” (engaging the complex theme of black motherhood), and “Final Hour” (speaking on the role of faith/spirituality within black feminism).

What they are looking for: They want to hear from talented writers to write 5 to 10 minute monologues or short scenes around the themes of the album.

The scratch night will take place on the 14th of June at the CLF art café Peckham at 7pm

How to submit: If you are interested in collaborating with them on this project, please send a first draft to info@nvrch.co.uk along with your name and a short paragraph about your writing experience and ambitions

They will whittle the entries down to 4 that will be performed on the night accompanied by musical covers.

Deadline: 24 May 2018
