Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: 29 Plays Later: A Playwriting Challenge
Description: 29 Plays Later is a playwriting challenge run by The Space, where participants each contribute £15 to a communal pool and commit to writing a play every day in the month of February. The writers who successfully make it to to the end of the challenge will split the funds.
So, what’s so great about it? If you made a new year’s resolution to do more writing in 2016, this may be just the challenge for you! This opportunity provides the benefit of both community and financial incentive to encourage you to write. There are no restrictions on what you’re allowed to write, so you could be prepping submissions for other opportunities or whatever work you are most passionate about. As the organisers say, “Plays can be good, bad, terrible, embarrassingly dreadful – the only thing that’s important is that you write them on that day.” You have until 29 January to sign up if you’re interested in participating.
