Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: BBC Writersroom – Script Room 10 open for Drama submissions
Description: BBC Writersroom’s regular window for unsolicited scripts is now open for Drama scripts (TV, film, radio, stage or online).
So, what’s so great about it? This one is a bit of a long shot because they receive a HUGE amount of submissions for each window (around 2000 for the Comedy window in the Spring). But, you’ve got to be in it to win it right? While there is no set in stone ‘prize’ for this, BBC Writersroom use the submission windows to identify and make contact with writers who they think have potential and they do run a range of really valuable opportunities for the chosen writers from workshops to shadow schemes on existing shows. As long your script is a Drama, it can be written for TV, film, radio, stage or online – which is handy if you’d like to use a stage play you’ve written as a calling card script to try and get in to Television. You need to apply for this one through the Writersroom’s E-Submission service and you’ve got until 24 September 2015 to do so. There is also a load of resources to help you on the Writersroom website – good luck!
