Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Dark Horse Festival with London Playwrights Workshop
Description: London Playwrights Workshop (which manages London Playwrights Blog) will be partnering on London Writers Week this year with Drama Centre (and several other wonderful organisations for writers). The Dark Horse Festival will showcase five of the most exciting new voices in playwriting, sharing their work with the industry and the public.
So, what’s so great about it? At London Playwrights Workshop, we try not to toot our own horn too much in terms of self-promotion, since the site is home to opportunities from many wonderful organisations. However, we think this opportunity deserves the recognition. It’s specifically targeted at giving exposure to emerging writers and supporting their career development – basically, built with our readers in mind. We’ve also been really pleased to see this opportunity generating positive discussion about new writing and the gender gap, in response to this article about the Dark Horse submission process. The deadline is this Sunday, so get your scripts in soon!

Our usual disclaimer states that we’ve posted this for your convenience and we’re not affiliated with the organisers of the opportunity in any way. However, we are indeed the organising force behind this one! We hope you’ll excuse this interruption to normal affairs and take the chance to share your writing with us!
