Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Kevin Spacey Foundation £10,000 Grants for Artists of Choice
Description: The Kevin Spacey Foundation is offering grants to one exciting project in each of the five categories: a play, a musical, a dance piece, a choir, a band or a short film. (The foundation will also award $10,000 USD to five projects in the states.)
So, what’s so great about it? Funding is always an obstacle for emerging writers, and this is a great chance to get some serious funds to put into developing your play. The Kevin Spacey Foundation will award up to £10,000 to the projects they select, and provide professional mentoring for grant recipients. You’ll have to move quick to get your application submitted in time for the 29 May deadline – and be forewarned that the application requires that you address the practicalities (including putting together a timeline and budget) as well as the artistic components of your project – but if you can tap into that entrepreneurial spirit, it’s an opportunity not to pass up.
