Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: 503Five Writers Residency Scheme
Description: 503Five is an 18-month residency at Theatre503 that provides the selected writers with a seed commission, dramaturgical support, mentorship, and opportunities to have work staged. The scheme is aimed at writers who have developed their craft to a high standard but have yet to receive a professional production.
So, what’s so great about it? This scheme has it all: funding, staging, and support. This is a brilliant chance for emerging writers to develop their craft. It’s also focused on helping skilled writers make the leap to professional work, but targeting eligibility on writers who have not yet had a professional production. Theatre503 prides itself on its support for new writers, and this opportunity is a chance to benefit from that expertise in a supportive community. Applications are due 11 January – perfect timing for anyone making New Year’s resolutions about their writing!
