Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: BBC Caroline Aherne Bursary
Description: BBC Comedy Commissioning in partnership with BBC Writersroom and BBC North are delighted to announce the Caroline Aherne Bursary 2019. The inaugural bursary scheme in the memory of the late Caroline Aherne was launched in 2017 at the Salford Sitcom Showcase and they are now accepting applications for this year’s scheme.
What’s so great about it? Here’s one for the comedy writer/ performers out there. This fantastic opportunity from the BBC offers a £5000 bursary plus mentorship from and experienced BBC commissioning editor to develop a comedy script along with support and access to comedy training sessions from BBC Writersroom. If you think you’ve got what it takes, you’ve got until 15 November to submit.
