Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Bisha K Ali & Netflix Present – The Screenwriters’ Fellowship
Description: A new talent initiative that will offer up to six successful applicants the opportunity for a year long programme of professional development.
Why is it so great? Here’s one for the screenwriters! This new scheme which aims to increase the diversity of voices among new writers is a one year programme that provides training, mentoring and other support to Black and Asian writers and writers from other racial and ethnic backgrounds that are under-represented in the high end TV and film industry. Not only will each writer receive a £22,568 bursary to write a spec script for an original idea over the course of a year but they will also get monthly development events and workshops, and a paid placement in a writers room of a Netflix or Sky series. If you’d like to apply, you’ll need to send a sample of your work in by 18th June.
