Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Lemon House Theatre seek short plays by mixed race/dual heritage writers on the theme of Identity
Description: In order to help tackle issues of representation in the arts, LHT are going to be hosting a night of rehearsed readings by writers who identify as mixed race/dual heritage.
This is an opportunity for writers to see their work staged through script-in-hand performances, with the chance to receive feedback by a live audience, and take part in the creative process. The readings will be taking place in July, with selected writers being contacted in late May.
What’s so great about it? We always like to give a shout out to theatre companies who work to support those under-represented in theatre and LHT are using their next event to champion the work of writers who identify as mixed race/ dual heritage.
Selected writers will have their work shown to a live audience this summer and receive dramaturgical support and feedback throughout the process. They are looking for short plays for 1-2 actors (who can multi-role if need be) on the theme of identity and you have until 30 April to get your scripts in. Good luck!
