Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: LPW Play Club 2020: Lockdown Edition – A Taste of Honey
Description: In light of these isolating times, we thought we’d run an extra play club, open to everyone; LPW member or not. We’ve selected a classic text which should be easy to nab a copy of online and we’re inviting everyone and anyone to write a short, 10 page play in response to what they’ve read to submit to us.
Please note, this is an additional Play Club and doesn’t replace any of those we already have programmed for our members.
What’s so great about it? We know for lots of you, isolation can lead to moments of boredom! So what better than to grab a good book – in this case – a play?! We’re inviting you to write a 10 minute play in response to Shelagh Delaney’s classic, A Taste of Honey. The selected play will get a slot in our Play Club readings event which will hopefully take place in London towards the end of the year. Last year’s event took place at the Old Red Lion to a full house, so we’re hoping to create the same again once theatres open their doors. All you need to do to take part is read the play, write your response, and send it to us by 26th April. We can’t wait to read your work.
