Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: The Bruntwood Prize (just 2 weeks to go!)
Description: The Bruntwood prize is a prestigious award for playwrights and with a prize fund totalling £40,000 across four categories including two new £8000 prizes for a debut play and international voices, it remains the biggest playwriting prize in Europe. Since the biennial competition, which is run in collaboration with the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, was launched in 2005 it has awarded more than £250,000 in prize money to 28 writers. This year’s competition is now open for entries of full length plays.
What’s so great about it? Well we wouldn’t be doing our job properly if you didn’t give a final nudge about the biggest playwriting competition in Europe! This one needs little explaining and it’s likely to be on your radar already but if you want to be in with a chance of winning this game changing prize – get those plays polished and make sure you don’t miss the deadline on 5 June! Don’t forget, the Bruntwood also runs the brilliant Write a Play website which will support you in your submission!
