Pen to Print and Alternative Stories are on the hunt for innovative, original plays that have been designed specifically for listening. This Audio Play Competition is a truly unique opportunity for emerging writers to get their work out there and have it heard by a global audience, on Alternative Stories and Write On! Audio podcast.
First prize: Tablet PC & full production of the winning audio play, which includes the following:
- The opportunity to work with Alternative Stories actors including casting, direction and fielding their questions on character tone and delivery.
- The opportunity to work with Alternative Stories in the design of soundscapes and the tone of music and ambient sounds we produce for their production.
- The opportunity to play a small cameo part in the production, should you wish to
- To be fully credited as the writer in all branding for the production.
Relevant entry criteria: Due to funding limitations, this competition is only open to UK residents
How to enter & guidelines: Entry route is via our website; entrants can fill in the Google form or email their manuscript to pentoprint@lbbd.gov.uk with the subject line: Audio Play Competition
- Audio Play should be around 30 minutes long
- Word length should be approximately 4,000-5,000 words
- Synopsis of the story should be included, limited to 250 words
- Works must be original and tailored for audio drama (your manuscript should include ‘stage directions’, reference sounds or tones of voice specifically.)
- At least 2 characters should be included, preferably 4 or 5.
