Are you aged 16-25? Are you interested in telling or writing stories? Do you write plays, theatre projects or films? Do you write lyrics, librettos or songs? Do you know anyone who does?
Pentabus Theatre – the nation’s rural touring company – is on the lookout for 16-25 year old writers for their Pentabus Young Writers Programme for 2018/19. The course starts in October 2018 in Hereford and Shrewsbury, leading up to a professional production of your work in Summer 2019.
There will be two groups running in parallel, one on a Wednesday evening at Hereford College of Arts and one on a Thursday evening at Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury. Each group will have 10 sessions in total, one a month starting on 3 & 4 October
The sessions are open to anyone who has an interest in creative writing, storytelling, film making, and writing for performance or theatre, regardless of their curriculum study choices. There’s no need to have any writing experience to join, just a keen interest in storytelling and a need to talk about how we live. Joining this group is for the purpose of developing new skills and confidence, honing talents and being given a platform to have their work professionally produced.
Through a series of FREE workshops they will teach you the principles of great playwriting, and how production elements like acting, writing and design can make a story come to life onstage. You’ll work with professional playwrights, actors, directors and designers, writing a short play or project for professional production at the end of the course.
Course dates: the first sessions on 3rd/4th October will be run as taster sessions to give potential participants an idea of what the course will entail.
