Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland was set up to provide artistically independent career support to the playwrights of Scotland of all levels of experience.
They are currently offering several Play Development Bursaries for playwrights based in Scotland or Scottish writers living elsewhere to receive financial and practical support. The bursaries on offer are:
The Playwright Mentoring Programme – for playwrights who have not yet had a professional production and are keen to learn more about their craft. It is a professional development opportunity for playwrights to build their playwriting skills and writing community. Working with an established playwright who will support you from initial idea towards completing the first draft of a new, full-length play.
Self-Led Projects – designed for professional playwrights to create their own projects, with organisational assistance and financial support of up to £4,000 available per project.
The Disabled Playwright Support Programme – a professional development opportunity for disabled playwrights living in Scotland, with a commitment to writing for theatre. Designed for ideas that haven’t yet made it to first draft stage, it is an opportunity for playwrights to reach the next level with their writing, offering focused support to develop a new idea over the course of six months.
