SLAMinutes is a cabaret with a conscience, taking the issues that most need shouting from the rooftops and doing so with writers, performers and creatives of all kinds. A social barometer for what is really going on.
SLAM are looking for 30 writers, artists or performers who identify as female to submit one minute on women’s mental health.
“There’s a lot on our plates, caring responsibilities, hormones, the cost of living, the power of thought and over-thought, we’re paid less and we care more. One in five of us have a mental health problem and I’d wager that 100% of us either want to or do help another that has. Our internal pots aren’t auto-refillable, but we will give and give and give. One thing we have got right is our ability to talk about it.
Sharing experiences , as entertainingly as possible, whilst showing that no one is on their own in it.
Whatever your take on mental health is, your creative discipline, your perspective, your thoughts, your feelings and everything in between. SLAMinutes want to hear it and understand it, in the hopes that it will help others too.”
To be performed at Arcola Theatre in London on 30th July 2022.
This is an unpaid opportunity, proceeds will be donated to Mind. SLAMinutes works in 3 ways: they create and perform which is inherently therapeutic, have our voices heard – impacting change and they raise money for mental health charities to do even more work to improve mental health.
