Soulspire Arts looking for writers/ performers for Roots & Connections: A scratch night of new work

Soulspire Arts are looking for writers/performers who are at their early stages of developing a piece of writing or interested in creating a new piece of work for their debut scratch night:

“Roots & Connections: A scratch night of new work” taking place at

The Space on Sunday 29th September!

“Roots & Connections” as their theme, emphasises how individual and collective histories, cultural backgrounds, personal relationships, and communal ties are intricately linked. It highlights the interplay between where we come from (roots) and the relationships and networks we build (connections), showcasing the interconnectedness of our experiences and identities.

Your writing could be in the form of:

  • A short play (or part of a larger extract)
  • short scenes/duologue
  • monologue
  • poetry/spoken word

In essence, they are seeking innovative, thought-provoking performances that capture the essence of connection in its many forms, offering fresh perspectives and deep insights!

Pieces must be no longer than 10 minutes. They will prioritise work that has not been performed off the page yet and artists looking for a performance space as well as to receive feedback from a live audience to aid their development and progress of their work. They particularly welcome artists of the global majority community and those less represented in the industry. They also ask that writers already have their performers attached to their work.

This opportunity is unpaid, but you will get:

  • A recording of your piece so you can use this for future submissions
  • Involvement in a post-show Q+A for writers to help answer any questions to aid in the development of your piece
  • Network with other artists
  • Get your work off the page and to hear it out loud!

Please can interested writers get in touch by filling out this application form: https://forms.gle/39SD5572TF18jvoY7

Deadline: Monday 5th August

They will get back to all who have applied after the deadline.

They look forward to hearing from you and reading your application!
