Storylining for Continuing Drama Workshop with Kathleen Beedles

Two IdeasTap members will win a place on a Storylining for Continuing Drama Workshop led by BAFTA-nominated executive producer Kathleen Beedles. The full-day practical workshop on the craft of storylining normally costs £250.

The ability to turn story ideas into long-running plotlines has underpinned the careers of successful script editors, writers, producers and commissioners. The two winners of this brief will join up to 10 other writers in storylining a fictional soap Kathleen has created. You will write a storyline, and receive an edit the following week.

What you experience and learn through this process will help you pitch and write treatments. It will help you lose the fear of the blank page by writing on demand and to short deadlines and will teach you how to generate ideas, think on your feet with fellow writers and, most importantly of all, understand pure story beats and hooky narrative turning points.

The two winners of this brief receive a full day’s workshop with other writers (with lunch provided), a personal one-on-one telephone edit of a storyline they write and a PDF booklet with invaluable insights and insider tips.

Before applying for this brief, please make sure that you are available for the workshop on 17 May, 10am to 5pm.

The judges are looking for people who have storytelling instincts and a passion for telling a good story

How to apply: you’ll need to sign up o IdeasTap where you will be asked to upload a profile picture and to fill out an online application form.

Deadline: 9 May 2014 at 5pm
