Do you ever feel frustrated about what you see or don’t see on stage? What themes, worlds or communities still aren’t being represented? We are living through tumultuous times – how should theatre respond?
“We want to scratch the plays a company like ours – a diverse, cutting edge touring theatre company of 27 years – should be producing. We have our ideas but we want to hear yours. So, rather than select plays around a theme that we have set, for our latest scratch night, the floor is yours. You, the artists can submit plays on any theme.”
This is your opportunity to suggest new ideas, and send Tamasha a short script, on any subject. They will select and present four as script-in-hand readings at Rich Mix in May to a public audience. This is your opportunity to scratch your work with professional actors and a director.
Submission guidelines:
- Script extracts should be no more than 15 minutes in performance (roughly 10 pages)
- Pieces must be for a maximum of four actors (doubling possible)
- They’re looking for play ideas for which there is a good reason for Tamasha to produce now, in the UK
- Scenes from longer scripts are welcome
“Given the nature of our work, we are particularly interested in submissions from BAMER writers. All applicants must demonstrate a proven and strong interest in culturally specific work.
As a touring company, we are also particularly keen in ideas set with universal, non-London centric theme.”
How to submit: Scripts should be sent to stella@tamasha.org.uk. Please include a recent CV and short (no more than one A4 page) covering letter explaining why you think the piece is relevant to Tamasha and topical.
Deadline: 8 April 2018
