The First Laugh Comedy Writing Competition open for entries

The First Laugh Comedy Writing Competition is a free-to-enter peer-to-peer competition aiming to help brand new writers get a foot in the door of the UK comedy industry. It’s for people with credits on two shows or fewer, so people with no credits at all can enter, which isn’t the case with a lot of competitions. You must be resident in the UK to enter.

The prize is £250 plus short sessions with lots of different mentors, including David Schneider, Saskia Schuster (ITV Head of Comedy) and Jon Holmes, amongst others (see the full list).

They are just looking for one sketch, maximum 400 words, 10 one-liner gags and a paragraph about what winning this prize would mean to you.

Visit The First Laugh website for entry requirements, rules and all the info on judging and everything else

Deadline: 8 November 2019 at midnight
