The New American Full-Length Play competition has been created to support new plays. The competition is in line with The New American Theatre’s on-going commitment to inspire, educate and nurture artists and communities towards a thoughtful and humane world view through the art of story-telling. Since 1995, The New American Theatre has presented over 130 Los Angeles or World Premieres Plays.
The New American Theatre is accepting submissions of original, unpublished full-length plays that have not been produced, and can be performed by five actors or fewer. Plays that have had readings will be considered. They are accepting submissions from international sources, but any script submitted must be in English.
Three Finalists will be selected by the New American Theatre’s literary group with the final choice made by Artistic Director Jack Stehlin. Three Finalists will receive recognition. The First Prize Award will be a staged, public reading in Hollywood and an invitation to join The New American Theatre’s Playwrights Circle, and the possibility of a full production.
Extended Deadline: March 1, 2023 (11:45 pm Pacific Standard Time.)
The extended deadline has a $25 administrative fee.
