The Phoebe Frances Brown Award is a joint playwriting award from Hampstead Theatre and Nottingham Playhouse to mark the memory of writer Phoebe Frances Brown who died of cancer earlier this year.
The award is for writers who identify as female and who are at the start of their career and will offer a paid Downstairs commission from Hampstead Theatre together with a £1000 bursary and dramaturgical support from Hampstead Theatre and Nottingham Playhouse. Rodney and Zmira Hornstein are kindly supporting the Phoebe Frances Brown Award.
Applicants should be over 21, based in the UK and have had no more than three pieces of their work produced professionally, on the fringe or in community settings, in full runs or one-off performances or anything in between.
To apply writers should submit a completed full-length script (60 pages plus) and tell us, in no more than 500 words, what the award would mean to them at this stage in their writing life.
The closing date is Monday 23rd January 2023 and all applications, queries or questions should be emailed to PFBA@hampsteadtheatre.com.
