The Union Shorts One Act Festival

The Union Theatre, in association with Off Main Stage, are looking for plays for their inaugural One
Act Festival.
As part of the Union Theatre’s in-house productions, the One Act Plays (drama and musicals) will be
performed by professional actors in London and directed by industry professionals, over May 18 th to
the 29 th .
This is two weeks of theatre, with each company given rehearsal space, tech and dress rehearsals, a
lighting technician, and it will be judged for awards by a professional panel (Olivier award winners),
with awards such as Best New Writing, Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Musical etc.
The Union Theatre is in Southwark. It is a 75 seater venue.
The theatre will provide the directors, actors and technicians so that the performances are of a high
standard.
All the writer needs to do is submit their work and let the theatre take care of the rest! The work
must be between 30-50 minutes in duration. If selected it will either be given a 7:30pm or 8:30pm
slot over the duration of the Festival.
Each writer selected will be given complimentary tickets, and their show will be reviewed by a
London reviewer.
To submit:
 30-50 minute piece
 Plays or Musicals are fine
 Writers must be over the age of 18
 The play must be your own work
 You must only submit one piece of work
This is an unpaid opportunity.
The proceeds of the festival will go towards paying rehearsal space, theatre hire, staff costings,
technician hire and towards the Covid-Relief fund, following the debts incurred over lock-down, to
keep the theatre open.

Theatre Script Submission”.

Please make sure your full name is on the script or email.
The deadline to submit your work is February 6 th , 6pm.
