With most theatres dark due to Covid, Theatre West’s new project Zooming Ahead offers some light and hope for women writers based in the South West. Whilst they can’t offer production opportunities, they can offer a package of script development support to 10 writers including dramaturgy and Zoom readings of their play as it develops.
They are looking for plays with the most potential to develop and grow, using the elements of support on offer and are particularly interested in scripts that give voice to new and challenging stories.
There will be five script submission windows and from each, two writers will receive a package of support. Writers who don’t get chosen will receive some brief development feedback on their script.
Scripts should be around an hour long, able to be read by a maximum of three actors and be at least 1st drafts (not extracts, first 10 pages etc) They should also have the capacity for development – if you think your script is ready then this is not the project for you.
This opportunity is open to women writers living in the South West of England.
