UK Jewish Film Festival is launching a new film fund for 2025 to support the production of three short films exploring British Jewish identity.
They are seeking three talented screenwriters to create 15-minute dramatic shorts aimed at teenagers. Each selected writer will receive a £2,500 payment, with a production budget of £25,000 per film.
The completed films will premiere at the BAFTA-qualifying UK Jewish Film Festival in November 2026 and will be used as part of their Changing Perspectives schools programme.
Films should focus on one of three themes:
- Jewish Culture
- Religious Traditions and Rituals
- Connection to Israel
UK Jewish Film Festival believes deeply in the power of these stories. In today’s world, it’s vital that young people see authentic representations of diverse communities. These films will give teenagers a window into the rich tapestry of Jewish culture, meaningful religious traditions, and the complex relationship with Israel – ultimately creating a more nuanced and human understanding of British Jewish identity.
Selected writers will participate in a Writers’ Room led by award-winning screenwriter Kefi Chadwick, with travel expenses covered.
