To launch their Good Trouble Labs digital storytelling programme for winter 2023, Vanitas Arts invite Writer and Actor Lolita Chakrabarti to discuss her award-winning work in digital storytelling for live and broadcast audiences: including Life of Pi & Invisible Cities. There will be a short Q&A session with Lolita Chakrabarti towards the end of the discussion where attendees can post questions.
This free to attend, exciting online event will take place on Thursday 7th December from 7-8.30pm.
The event will launch their Good Trouble Labs digital learning programme for Winter 2023 . The event and programme is aimed at writers, producers, live digital practitioners, digital storytellers, immersive theatre makers and creative teams working in and developing digital content.

ABOUT LOLITA CHAKRABARTI
In 2019 Lolita adapted the Booker Prize winning novel Life of Pi for the stage, (Sheffield Theatres, Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End, Boston, Broadway and currently on tour in the UK) for which she won the award for Best New Play at the Olivier Awards 2022, UK Theatre Awards 2019 and WhatsonStage Awards 2019. Life of Pi won 3 Tony Awards in 2023. Lolita adapted the winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award in 2020 and best-selling novel, Hamnet for the Royal Shakespeare Company, which is currently playing in London’s West End.
Invisible Cities premiered at the Manchester International Festival in 2019, which Lolita adapted from the classic novel by Italo Calvino of the same name. It was an ambitious and stunning production and a collaboration between Rambert dance company, 59 Productions and Lolita. Invisible Cities also opened at the Brisbane Festival in September 2019.
Her debut play Red Velvet opened at the Tricycle Theatre, London, before transferring to St Ann’s Warehouse in New York and then to London’s West End. It earned her the Evening Standard Charles Wintour Award for Most Promising Playwright 2012; The Critics’ Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright 2013; AWA for Arts and Culture 2013 and an Olivier Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre 2012, as well as many other nominations. Red Velvet is now on the Drama syllabus for A level, is studied at universities in the UK and USA and there have been over twenty professional productions in the USA and beyond.
Other writing credits include Hymn (Almeida Theatre/Sky Arts); Stones of Venice, a VR film for New Vision Arts Festival in Hong Kong; she curated The Greatest Wealth (The Old Vic) celebrating 8 decades of the NHS, which was also shown online during the pandemic. She was dramaturg for Message in a Bottle (Sadlers Wells/ZooNation) and Sylvia (Old Vic).
