The WBD Access x Waterloo Road Directors programme aims to support the growing pool of talented women directors in the North of England. In addition to workshops and industry standard training, some directors will have the chance to shadow on Waterloo Road.
Waterloo Road, as a BBC commission, is ambitious to encourage career development and to upskill crew based in the North of England. The programme will provide the up-and-coming directors with insight into all facets of television, including developing episodic television, prep expectations and working collaboratively with the cast and crew.
As the latest Diamond data currently shows, women are far under-represented in Director roles in the UK. The aim is to redress this balance through this training scheme. It welcomes and encourages women to apply from an intersection of identities including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability and class.
The programme will be led by WBD’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team in partnership with Wall to Wall North (WBITVP), Rope Ladder Fiction and the BBC.
