We are looking for a Writer / Dramaturg to work collaboratively with our Artistic Director on Oily Cart’s next interactive sensory show ‘The Cart’. You would work together to produce a concept, structure and outline short script.
This piece is being devised to be used by teachers in specialist schools, so they can perform their own sensory shows in their classroom bubbles with disabled young people of all ages. This piece of sensory theatre will celebrate 40 years of Oily Cart, taking inspiration from the many discoveries and creative experiments the company has pioneered to build their sensory theatre methodology.
The creative process will largely be done remotely. It will involve working with the Artistic Director to view archived footage of Oily Cart shows, as inspiration, as well as conversations with the company founders and specialist teachers.
The Writer / Dramaturg will then work collaboratively with the Designer, Musical Director and Artistic Director to devise a theatrical model that teachers can deliver in a Covid-safe way in their schools. The final piece will be both artistically high quality and engaging for their pupils.
Oily Cart is an equal opportunities employer and actively seeks to employ people with disabilities and people from different backgrounds.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
