Corridor8 and The Art House Wakefield invite proposals from writers based in the North of England to work with Iranian printmaker Mohammad Barrangi. The Art House is the first Studio of Sanctuary in the UK, providing time, space and support for professional artists who are seeking asylum in the UK or who have refugee status. This residency is for writers based in the North of England who have faced cultural, social, physical, economic or other barriers to pursuing a career in the arts. The successful applicant will receive mentoring from an established writer to develop a critical and/or creative response to Barrangi’s practice and relevant themes or experiences that arise from the collaboration. The final work, between 2,500 and 3,000 words, will be sensitively refined with editors and published on the Corridor8 website. This residency may take place partially or fully online and there will be desk space available at The Art House if needed. Corridor8 and The Art House are committed to making our opportunities accessible to all and supporting those facing barriers to apply. This includes support for disabled, learning disabled and neurodivergent writers, and those with long-term health conditions.
