Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Theatre503 Playwriting Award 2018
Description: The Theatre503 Playwriting Award is now open for submissions. The award is made possible by the long term support of The Richard Carne Trust. Nick Hern Books are returning as Publishing Partners and Award Ceremony Sponsors for the third time.
They are seeking full length plays from debut and emerging writers.
What’s so great about it? This is definitely one of the playwriting awards to have on your radar. Supported by well known publishers Nick Hern, this award gives the lucky recipient the chance to work with one of the post exciting new writing theatres in London.
Theatre503 have a great track record with new and emerging writers – they stage the work of more first-time writers than any other theatre in the country and programme over 100 new pieces of writing every year. So, if you want the chance to get involved with an organisation which has new writing at its’ core, send them your play!
All they ask is that writers haven’t been previously produced (and by that, they mean a run of 4 weeks or more at a professional venue, so readings and shorter runs are fine) You’ve got until 31 March to apply but make sure you give yourself enough time for the online application form.
