BBC Radio Solent Search for New Playwrights

Have you ever wanted to be a Playwright? Would you like to have your work broadcast on BBC radio? Do you have what it takes to become a BBC Radio Solent Playwright?

They are looking for 15 minute fictional radio plays with a connection to Hampshire, Dorset or the Isle of Wight, to be recorded at a special performance later in the year for broadcast on BBC Radio Solent and on the website. It’s a fantastic opportunity to hear your work on the radio and online.

Chosen by a panel of experts, the writers of the best three plays will be invited along to a workshop to help refine their scripts ready for recording by actors in front of a live audience.

Submissions will be judged on:

  • Originality
  • Plot
  • Storytelling
  • Suitability for radio listening
  • Creative use of location
  • Writing technique
  • Enjoyment

Who is eligible? You don’t need any previous writing experience. All entries need to be an original piece of fiction not previously published or performed. You can enter on your own or as a group, but you can only enter once.

How to apply: Visit the BBC Radio Solent website for full details and make sure you read the full terms and conditions before entering.
